The RinkWare Story

It Started With
A Favor For A Friend.

Before RinkWare was a software company, it was a solution to a real problem at a real roller rink.

The Beginning

One rink.
One problem.
One favor for a friend.

That simple project eventually became an entire ecosystem built around the way rinks actually operate.

How RinkWare Began

We Didn't Start In A Conference Room.

Before RinkWare

Two Friends Who Grew Up In The Rink.

Years before RinkWare existed, its founder, Harold Herrin, and his lifelong friend had already grown up together in the roller skating world. They started as helpers at the rink before they were even old enough to be employed, became employees when they were old enough, speed skated together, and eventually worked side by side running his friend's mother's rink in Humble, Texas while Harold was in college. After college, Harold left the rink business and became a software developer, but the experience of growing up inside a rink never left him.

About Fifteen Years Later

Then His Friend Called.

About fifteen years later, Harold's lifelong friend — now a roller rink owner himself — called with a problem. He was spending a lot of money on online booking services and website services, his webmaster was slow to respond when he needed changes, and neither his website nor his online booking solution really fit the style or needs of a roller rink. He asked Harold if he could build an online booking system and website for him instead. With years of software development experience behind him and a firsthand understanding of rink operations, Harold knew he could build something that would save his friend money, give him more control, and actually feel like it belonged in the roller skating business.

No Business Plan. No SaaS Pitch.

Harold Built It As A Favor For A Best Friend.

There wasn't a grand plan to launch a software company. Harold was helping one of his best friends solve a problem. The goal was to save him money, give him control over his own online booking system and website, eliminate the frustration of waiting on a webmaster for routine changes, and build something that actually suited a roller rink. His friend was not a "computer guy," so Harold made the system simple enough for him to manage himself. Ease of use and giving the operator control were part of the design philosophy from the very beginning.

Then Other Rinks Saw It

Word Started To Spread.

Other rink owners saw what Harold had built. They liked it and wanted it for their own venues. Harold put a commercial front end on the system and began making it available to other rinks. As more rinks started using it, Harold and those operators continued identifying other things that would be useful to build specifically for the rink industry.

One rink became another. Then another. RinkWare grew largely through word of mouth — and the product kept growing because rink operators kept helping us identify the next problem worth solving.

Where RinkWare Is Today

More Than 20 Years Later,
We're Still Building For Rinks.

What began as a website and online booking system built for one lifelong friend has grown into a complete RinkWare ecosystem serving rinks around the world.

RinkWare's growth hasn't changed the way we build. We continue to work directly with rink operators to identify pain points, understand what is costing them time, money or revenue, and develop practical solutions designed specifically for the rink industry.

We Didn't Adapt Generic Software To Rinks.

We started with a rink problem and built software to solve it. That distinction still shapes how RinkWare is developed today.

Real Venue Experience

The foundation came from understanding what happens inside a rink every day.

Solve The Actual Problem

Features are built around practical venue needs, not generic software checklists.

Rink Owners Shaped The Platform

The platform expanded as other operators used it, shared what was frustrating them, and helped identify the next rink-specific problem worth solving.

How We Build Today

Built With Rinks Around The World.

RinkWare now works with rink operators around the world to identify pain points, understand how those problems affect real venues, and develop practical solutions around them.

Listen To Operators

The best ideas usually start with a real operational frustration someone is dealing with today.

Identify The Pain Point

We look at what is costing the venue time, money, staff effort, customer frustration or missed revenue.

Develop A Practical Solution

Then we build around how rink operators and staff actually work — keeping the software useful, understandable and easy to manage.

The Idea Hasn't Changed

Build Things Rink Operators Actually Need.

Listen to rink operators. Identify a real problem inside the venue. Build a practical solution that people can actually use. Then connect it to the rest of the operation whenever that makes the rink easier to run, easier to manage and easier for customers to buy from.

Built Around The Revenue That Keeps Rinks Moving

Help Rinks Do More Than Survive. Help Them Thrive.

RinkWare knows that birthday parties are a major source of revenue for skating centers, and that general admissions are another key part of the business. That is exactly why we have focused so much attention on the tools that help rinks sell both.

We love roller skating and the rink industry that RinkWare grew out of. Our goal isn't simply to help rinks operate — it's to give operators practical tools that can help increase revenue, strengthen the customer experience and build healthier businesses for the future.
